Redwood trees – there is nothing like them. Although I have many painting and photos of these majestic beauties in the art gallery as well as on this website. The beauty and glory of these impressive trees cannot be over-emphasized.
Although they are all over the mountainous areas of the northwestern United States, one of my favorite areas is in northern California. On the eastern edge of the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, there is an older road named The Avenue of the Giants. It parallels highway 101 and also the South Fork Eel River.
It is a heck of a drive, one that cannot be described. Both sides of the single-lane road are densely lined with redwood trees. Some so tall they disappear into low clouds. The opportunities for a great picture are endless. Grab your camera and pack a lunch. There are many areas available for tourists to grab a table or bench and enjoy a lunch among majestic giants you will never forget.
