Closer to Heaven is a fine art panorama photograph taken in the snowy Sierra Nevada mountains. The picture was taken along Tioga Pass which runs along the mountain tops above Yosemite in California. Yosemite Valley is great and worth the visit, but it can be too crowded.
Tioga Pass runs along the top of the mountains above the valley and in my opinion, is more scenic and better for the photographer or painter. There are many, varied sights to see there and because the road is so long, it tends to be far less crowded than the Yosemite Valley.
Be careful if you plan to visit there, though. In the winter the snow fall can be so deep that they stop plowing the road and close it. Often the road is not plowed and opened until June or July. So if you plan on visiting Yosemite and making the drive along Tioga Pass, check your road closures before you go.
