The Blue Ridge Parkway is best known for its stunning Autumn show. The brilliant fall colors that can be seen there is why it is also named America’s Favorite Drive. But the beauty of the parkway can be seen in all other seasons, too.

Fog can be a photographer’s or artists best friend. Not only does it add atmosphere but it creates a mood, too. It also has another key benefit: it isolates. Properly used in a painting or a photograph, it can isolate the subject from the background or even other objects around it.

This unique painting was created from an original fine art photo taken along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Peaks of Otter area. The tree was isolated by a heavy fog. A painting was created from the photo and texture was added in the process.

The parkway runs 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina. The Peaks of Otter region is located in Virginia. There is a lodge there you can stay at, a restaurant you can eat at and they sit on the edge of a beautiful high mountain lake – Abbott Lake. There are trails to hike everywhere. It is a grand place to have a lunch or dinner at then go for a hike and enjoy the clean mountain air.
