Spring is all about the flowers

There is no doubt one of the highlights of spring is the beautiful colors and the blossoms that spring up everywhere. In the trees, on the ground, hidden in the grass. Spring is the season of color – in the mountains or at the beach.

The Blue Ridge Mountains

At the higher elevations of the Blue Ridge Mountains, spring comes a little later than it does on the lower elevation lowlands. One of the greatest drives you will ever take is the Blue Ridge Parkway which runs 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina. In the mornings you will often get fog. It usually burns off by the afternoon leaving the skies prepared for another spectacular sunset.

Spring is the Time for Color

Although the season of color may start a little later in the mountains because of the altitude, it always seems a little better in the mountains. The reason is because in the mountains, along the parkway, most of the color comes from wild flowers. You won’t see the groomed landscapes you often see in the cities. In some areas you can see fields awash with a single color then a mile down the road will be clumps of many different colors in one place.

Spring is the season of color and there is no better place to experience it than the Blue Ridge Mountains.
