You can rent a boat and row around various areas of the swamp. If you prefer you can also hike around the area on the many trails. Cypress gardens is beautiful in its own right. Cypress trees, large gatherings of lily pads and lily flowers and more can be seen here. But you need to be careful because there are also alligators in the water and sometimes on the land trails. There are signs posted in the swamp reminding you to keep your distance!
Cypress Gardens swamp was closed for a long time, having suffered damage by floods, hurricanes and tropical storms. However, after many years the facility received enough funding to be repaired and is now open again.
If you are ever in South Carolina, and certainly in the Charleston area, visiting and experiencing Cypress Gardens is well worth it. There is an admission fee, but it is well worth the price. The opportunities for the photographer as well as the artist as well as the casual tourist is countless. It is a fun place for the whole family and can even be rented for a wedding.
The unique painting you see here was created from an original fine art photograph taken in the swamp gardens. It is of a couple in one of the rented boats slowly touring the swamp area and enjoying the adventurous beauty.
