The Beaches, the Place
The Outer Banks of North Carolina is paradise. It is one of the most-favorite vacation spots of people on the east coast of the U.S. In the summer people from as far north as Maine and even people from the state of Florida, with its own great beaches, flock to the Outer Banks for a vacation.
As you travel north and south, there is everything to delight you no matter what your interest. In the areas of Kitty Hawk there is everything from shopping to miniature golf, from movie theaters to great restaurants. As you go south on Highway 12, you travel onto the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. There are places where the island is so narrow you can look out one side of your car and see the Atlantic Ocean, and out the other side to see Pamlico Sound. Places where you can stand and watch the sun rise over the water in the morning, and return to the same spot and watch the sun set over the water in the evening.
The Peace and Quiet
But the best thing about OBX in my personal view is the peace and quite. Especially if you have a four-wheel drive vehicle which will enable you to drive on the beach. You can find beaches where there is nobody else around. Solitude and quite – a place to relax and unwind.
Take the short ferry ride to Ocracoke Island. The peace and quiet is even more so there. Beautiful beaches, incredible sand dunes. Having resided on OBX, I can also say that the sunrises there can be unmatched anywhere in the world. It is truly a photographer’s or painter’s paradise.
